Success at Blueskyy is measured not by traditional rankings or accolades alone, but by the tangible and meaningful impact our community makes on the world. We celebrate not just the outcome, but the process: the bold idea, the collaborative breakthrough, the resilient recovery from failure, the quiet act of mentorship. Our achievements are the stories of our students, alumni, and faculty who are using the tools of their discipline to ask better questions, build better systems, and imagine better futures. These stories are the truest expression of our mission.
Student & Alumni Spotlights Our community is constantly creating, building, and innovating. While this is just a small snapshot, it reflects the spirit of our people.
- A team of our Sustainable Engineering undergraduates recently won the European ‘Green Infrastructure Challenge’ for their prototype of a modular, bio-integrated facade system for urban buildings. Their project, which passively filters air and water, is now being developed for a pilot installation in partnership with the City of Tallinn.
- An alumna from our first Global Entrepreneurship cohort has launched ‘Metsik’, a successful startup that uses machine learning to optimise supply chains for non-timber forest products, creating new economic opportunities for rural Estonian communities while promoting sustainable forestry.
- A recent graduate of our Digital Arts & Interactive Media MFA programme had her interactive virtual reality documentary, which explores the generational memory of the Baltic Way, selected for the Sundance New Frontier Story Lab. Her work is being praised for its innovative use of spatial sound and haptic feedback to create a deeply empathetic historical experience.
- A policy brief on mitigating cross-border cyber threats, authored by a group of our International Relations Master’s students, was recently cited in a report by the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. This is a testament to the real-world relevance and rigour of our students’ research.
Faculty Contributions Our faculty are leaders in their fields, and their work continually pushes the boundaries of knowledge. Dr. Arvo Kask, from our Computational Business & Economics programme, was recently awarded a prestigious grant from the European Research Council to fund his pioneering research into creating more transparent and equitable algorithmic credit scoring systems. Meanwhile, Professor Lena Järvinen, who leads our Immersive Narrative Studio, delivered a keynote address at the Ars Electronica Festival on the ethics of generative AI in creative practice, sparking a global conversation on the topic.
Our Community Partnership We believe a college should be a valued partner to its local community. Our BICA Foundation Programme students run a weekly ‘Digital Literacy’ workshop for senior citizens in Keila, helping to bridge the digital divide. Furthermore, our college actively partners with local schools on STEM and arts outreach programmes, aiming to inspire the next generation of innovators and creators. This commitment to service and local engagement is a core component of the Blueskyy identity. It is an achievement we are renewing every single day.
